This giant blue green hosta is growing in the garden at
the Winterthur Museum, in Wilmington, Delaware.
The beautiful puffy leaves simply looked to Dale like a
quilt. So it seemed only natural to call this painting “Mother Nature’s
Quilt”. |

The elegant, slow growing, Canary Island date palms grow
very tall, sometimes reaching 60 feet. They are recognized by their wide
trunks lined with diamond patterns and their dense crown of arching
fronds. A warm climate is needed to grow these fine palms.
The MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV has many of these
magnificent palms on their property. While floating around their Lazy
River, you may also watch the birds build their nests in these great
trees. Dales 2004 visit to the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino inspired her
to create this painting. It is a great addition to her palm series. |

The Cercis Siliquastrum grows in zone 7.
This painting was inspired by the Judas tree that grows
in Dale's daughter’s yard in South Carolina.
She was surprised to see the pom-pom like magenta blooms
on the tree's trunk, new limbs, and old limbs alike. The flowers appear
early spring, before the heart shape leaves appear. |

This cactus painting was created in residence at the
Gallery 919 Market, 919 Market Street, Wilmington, DE, in February, 2007
Dale had lots of fun creating this painting in the
Gallery. She decided to paint the prickly pears full of sunlight,
knowing the greens, yellows and purples would bring a little color to
the very gray winter season in Wilmington.
She painted in the white gallery section of the large
lobby, standing near the tall windows which let in tons of light.
The employees would take their smoke breaks outside on
the street positioning themselves in front of the windows to watch Dale
work. Some passer-bys would also stop to watch and even take time from
their busy day to come inside to say hello and ask questions.

colors would bring a little spring to the winter season in Wilmington.
She painted in the white gallery section, of the large

work. The passer-bys would take time from their busy day to stop and
watch. A great number of folks even came inside to say hello, and ask
questions. What a great month for Dale.
